Teaching
I have taught extensively at BA and MA levels on digital economies, racial capitalism, gender and development, feminist international relations, international political economy and critical finance studies.
I cover themes of capitalism in the international order, political economy of development, gender, race and development and finance studies. I am strongly interested in teaching qualitative research methods that build upon multiple disciplines and allow students to interrogate the political economy in interdisciplinary and socially-relevant ways. Here is a selective list of courses I have taught so far:
I am interested in developing novel pedagogical techniques to inculcate democratic citizenship in classrooms and cultivate independent thinking. I am currently developing a digital methods lab with colleagues at the University of Bern to explore non-textual forms of expression for students, including through visualisation techniques, mapping, graphic design and multi-media presentations which are affective and can generate more comprehensive insights into questions of reflexivity, power, positionality and communicating with the reader. These are important techniques to take knowledge outside of specific sites and generate public outreach and impact from research.
In addition to teaching at universities, since 2024 I have been a mentor with EduAccess, an NGO providing free guidance, advice and resources to students from historically marginalised backgrounds in the Global South to access universities and research opportunities in higher education. I have worked with exceptional students from diverse backgrounds to teach academic communication and academic writing, and to bridge intergenerationally accumulated gaps in cultural and social capital.
